Washington, D.C.
                  (End of Our
                    Seven Week Journey)

                  Excerpts from Kristy:
                    July 11, 1998
After seven weeks and 11,500 miles of touring, people, laughter,
arguments, and roads I was back to Washington, D.C. When I
pulled into my development that night, reality finally hit
me. Sitting in the driveway, I realized that after 6 months
of planning and 7 weeks of traveling, it was over. I sat there
remembering everything with tears running down my face. I
laugh when I think about what a sorry sight I was. Here I
was ragged and tired, hauling bags out of my dirty car and
into the house, all the while sobbing as though my heart had
                    broken.
I just didn't want the fun to end. Back to work and to the
day to day drudgery of commuting over two hours a day just
couldn't be. Fortunately, this wasn't the end for Beth and
me. We just keep on going. Once a year, we plan a trip to
see something we've never seen before. The only requirement
is that the destination must be chock full of the unusual.
Fortunately, every place has its oddities if you look hard
                    enough.
Since the 7-week tour, we've been all over. The fun never
ends, because there's always a trip in the works. Vacationing
is not expensive. There's no replacement for good planning,
a fertile imagination and an open mind. Watch out Roadside
                    America here we come.
